The founding partners of Pangaea were senior members of the management team at Antares Capital Corporation and Antares Asset Management (collectively “Antares”). Antares Capital Corporation, formed in 1996, became a market leader in arranging syndicated middle market sponsored credit facilities. Antares Asset Management, became a leading manager of middle-market collateralized loan obligations (“CLOs”).

Barry Shear was a founding partner and President of Antares Capital Corporation and member of the Antares Asset Management Investment Committee. David Schmuck was Chief Financial Officer of Antares Capital Corporation and a member of the Investment Committee for Antares Asset Management. Mike King was head of Credit Underwriting at Antares Capital Corporation.

Antares was sold to General Electric Capital Corporation (“GECC”), an affiliate of General Electric, in 2005, and merged with the GECC middle market sponsor finance business. The consolidated unit was renamed GE Antares. Barry Shear became President of GE Antares, David Schmuck became Managing Director and CLO Portfolio Manager at GE Asset Management, and Mike King became Managing Director and head of credit underwriting at GE Antares.
